Style Me Pretty Shoot

One of my favorite projects in the world is to create an shoot for Style Me Pretty!  Millie and I decided to set this one at the Brooklyn Arts Center, a great new venue that is under renovation.  It is stunning and while it was not yet complete, it was the perfect setting for our shoot.

Millie Holloman is responsible for the amazing images.

Style Me Pretty's Inspiration to Reality shoots require that the vendors choose a board and style the shoot around the board. When we were choosing a board, we wanted one that spoke to the venue itself.  Naomi’s board was perfect.  Her work has so many layers and meanings, and this board was no different.  To us, it was about sanctuary—the sanctuary that marriage provides for two people—a protected refuge from the world.  But even beyond that, it seemed to speak both to the literal sanctuary that is the main ballroom of the Brooklyn Arts Center and to the architectural sanctuary that exists in this restored historic building.  We wanted to capture these ideas in the pieces of our design, so we focused on things that protect and cover, things that suggest that although the rest of the world may be cold and bitter, there is warmth in the space between two people.

So based on this board, here is what we came up with!

Maura Kropke modeled and played for us.

The foot washing ceremony is such a moving ceremony.

We created a tea station with old teapots.  I really want to do this for a wedding!

Nicki's Cakesdesigned a beautful cake.

Other thanks for Melissa Kinnamon for Hair, Saja Wedding for allowing us to borrow the dress, Party Suppliers for rentals, Fisherman's Wifefor place settings and Gentleman's Corner and Oliver for accessories!
