ST. THOMAS WEDDING

Sarah and Shawn are two of the sweetest people I have ever met, and they are completely smitten with each other!  They only gave us about two and a half months to plan their big day, but they were absolutely amazing to work with and their day was simply wonderful.  Thanks to Millie Holloman Photography for all the fabulous photography!

St. Thomas is a lovely venue-- an old church that is completely empty and serves as a great blank canvas for events.  The only catch is that when it is the site for both the ceremony and reception, then we must "flip" the space in exactly one hour!

If you are around Salt Harbor long enough, you will find one of our treasured helpers!  Jane Roberson, "Miss Jane" or "Mama Jane" as we so fondly call her, directs many of our weddings.  She is an incredible lady whose ability to handle a crisis, manage tension, and lead the day always amazes me!  Here she is making sure that veil is just right before Sarah walks down the aisle.

For flowers, Sarah wanted a burgundy mixture of roses, callas, and orchids.

Steve Peterson from High Performace Lighting hung a chandelier over the alter area and we created alter with the old wooden bar that is at St. Thomas.

Guests went across the street to the City Club for cocktail hour while we turned the ceremony into the reception.  It is always neat to watch guests reenter the room when we have set all the tables and transformed the space.

Sarah wanted a vintage burlesque touch to the reception, so we created a guest book where guests could write messages to the couple and seal the envelope with wax.

Instead of a cake, Sarah wanted a table of sweets.  South N' France created these amazing bon bon towers and City Club made chocolate covered strawberries.  Coastal Cupcakes provide red velvet cupcakes that were so delicious!

Thanks to all the vendors who worked so seamlessly together to create a great night!

Bright Beach Wedding

When you have the job that I do, you cannot be color-discriminatory.  But I do have my favorite color-schemes and pink is not really on the top of my list (maybe it was the strawberry shortcake bedroom I was blessed with as a child).  But that does not mean that I don't like pink weddings!  In fact, pink can sometimes be charming.  This was a sweet little beach wedding and pink was one of the bride's favorite colors.  Just look as those vibrant shoes!

The Bride's parents have a house at Nag's Head and brought me lots of sea oats to tuck in the bouquets and boutonnieres.

City Club

I recently had an opportunity to work with several great vendors on a photo shoot for the City Club'swebsite.  The club wanted to feature the era of the mansion and so we took a slightly Victorian approach and used parlor games as our inspiration.  One of the best parts of my job is bending my style to fit the desires of the client!

Event Design Workshops

Next week is full of exciting things here at Salt Harbor.  We not only have an incredible wedding and the Orton Open House, but we are hosting our first ever Event Design Workshop.  We have two great ladies coming all the way from England to spend a few days with us.  Working with these ladies has helped us develop exactly what these event design workshops will entail.  The participants for next week's workship have helped us design and brainstorm for the Orton Open House and will have the opportunity to see the design implemented in person.

After talking with interested participants about what kind of information beginning event planners need, so many have expressed the need to understand the design process and how it comes together.  So this is how our workshops will be structured, allowing participants to observe and collaborate in the design process and then come to Salt Harbor to watch as the design is implemented.
